Margot Robbie Takes You Inside The Barbie Dreamhouse | Architectural Digest

Today on AD, Margot Robbie takes us behind the scenes of ‘Barbie’ for an exclusive tour of the Barbie Dreamhouse. When tasked with bringing these iconic childhood toys to life on the big screen, Greta Gerwig enlisted the skills of production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer. Taking inspiration from Palm Springs midcentury modernism they’ve created a whimsical fuchsia pink fantasy where slides replace stairs and there’s not a wall in sight–when touring this impressive set it’s hard not to feel a rush of playful nostalgia as Greta states “I wanted to capture what was so ridiculously fun about the Dreamhouses.” Barbie hits theaters on July 21.

  1. Remembering my childhood way back in the 90s..

The last barbie sets ive received was christmas 1997.

I stopped playing barbies, around june 1998 because we had our first computer dekstop and mega joy and started to play more video games and i actually got hooked more on reading pocketbooks "sweet valley".

  2. Yep this is G.I. Joe's wet dream LOL 🤣Just Sayin We went to the movies the other night to see Mission Impossible and so many women and girls were wearing pink? They must have had some kind of promotion or discount on ticket prices if you wore pink?🤔

  3. The studio did an outstanding job creating this set down to the details. I want to go play on the set and get a feel of feeling like a Barbie doll!!! 🤩😍

  4. Lots to like here, but I could not get past Margot Robbie selecting herself to play the main Barbie. Margot's 30-ish age and throaty, very adult voice seem out of place, and with (surprise) an Australian accent. I can appreciate that Barbie was popular worldwide…but the style of the original Barbie was definitely American. "Barbieland" features a Southern California atmosphere with palm trees and dry mountains.
